It was couple of times on the Black Sea in Russia, Gelendzhik… We were fishing for horse mackerel and it was curious and cute…
But I’ve never been fishing in my life in the very Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. Due to we live on Florida Keys, as it has for centuries here, life focuses on the water. The Keys are home to some of the world’s most south-after gamefish from sailfish and mahi-mahi to tarpon and marlin Commercial boats bring in catches of Key West pinks- the best of Keys delicious shrimp- as well as grouper and snapper. Everyone looks forward to both lobster and stone crab seasons for some of the area’s finest seafood delicacies.
I had some chances to go fishing with my husband and our friendly neighbors.
We also put crab’s traps to the Gulf and were able to catch two kinds of it’s blue crabs and stone crabs.
It’s really not very difficult but very interesting and give you a lot of new impressions and experiences in life. Crabbing is very easy from the moment when you put some bait in each trap and just throw it to the water on shallow place. Every trap has a special painted buoy. It helps to recognize your very trap when the next time after passing three or four days you going to pull out them full of the wonderful and awful crabs. If you ask me, why awful just because they have such a big and strong claws that unwittingly you start to think about they might cut you fragile fingers in one second.
Actually crabbing is very interesting kind of hunting but just keep on eye what you doing with it.
In three -four days you just return to the place where you put the traps and pull it out the water and ooh, miracle – there are ten dozen crabs in each. Your goal is to eject them from the traps and put it in cooler with some ice. So you will be able to bring home many fresh delicacies caught your own hands.
I could say it’s kind of very calm catching. No to much exciting except carefully treats with that sea animals. I already used to it… I’m a crab’s hunter almost…

The other thing is fishing in the Atlantic…. First of all you are really amazed with fascinating flora and seascapes while you are on way to fishing. Wonderful growing mangroves trees with snow-white cranes and other fancy birds, crystal clear water, nice sea breeze and never ending blue- blue sky with fluffy clouds.

You are equipped with all the stuff for future fishing, having bait and good fishing rod… You are rushing ahead on new brand boat and you are happy because soon you will catch unknown before fish.
Actually so many people have been trying fishing in Keys so fish became a crafty. It can it your bait leaving you without ” fish luck”. But just a little special skills and in half an hour you are beginning fisherman.
My several experiences were quite successful. I was able to catch snappers and blue runner fish… My professional neighbors other kind of its- amber Jack and cobia.
All of those kind fish are very delicious and tasteful. And since I’m not bad cook I enjoy to cook it in different varieties from baking, broiling to deep frying.
So, probably fishing is not bad pastime for you in very wonderful Florida’s Keys.
